Where it started
Waves of Eastern Europeans arrived in Australia missing the smallgoods they'd grown up on. So Marian and Nora Poprawski started making them the way they'd been made for a hundred years.
What began at home, shared among friends, outgrew the kitchen. They opened a delicatessen and smokehouse on Thomas St, Dandenong.
Brothers-in-law Bartek and Brendan took over in 2013 and immediately decided to change nothing. Same recipes, same methods.
Uncle's Deli is where you'll find honest smallgoods and the best pantry items ready for your family table.
Smoked Smallgoods
Everything we smoke at Uncle's Smallgoods lands here. Ham, bacon, pastrami, kabana, kransky - sliced fresh or pre-packed. Free-range, 100% Australian meat. Smoked in small batches with no shortcuts.
European Pantry
Beyond the smallgoods, you'll find shelves filled with the food we'd want next to it: European pantry goods, pickles, pâtés, cheeses and more. The kind of range most delis don't bother stocking. We do, because we actually eat it.
Maria's in the kitchen
Maria is our resident chef, and she's the reason people come back on their lunch break. Uncle's Deli offers fresh meals made that morning including hot meals and sandwiches built with our own smallgoods. Plus proper coffee.
You'll also find Polish baked goods that have ruined more than a few diets.
